As of the beginning of 2020, Grolsch, our business in the Netherlands, has halved its carbon emissions. As of 1 January 2020, Grolsch has taken an important step and will now use only 100% green electricity generated by European wind turbines for both the brewery and its drinks wholesaler, De Klok. This reduces CO2 emissions by 46% (6,700 tons) per year, which is equivalent to the amount of carbon emissions emitted annually by approximately 3,000 households. The ambition is to have a completely carbon-neutral brewery by 2025, where all the energy used will be generated in a sustainable manner.
