A reforestation project by Bergenbier, a Romanian brewer, was launched back in November 2017. The first trees were planted in April and May 2018, finally reaching 50,000 trees over the course of several months. Initiated by Bergenbier, the “Refresh and reforest!” campaign was implemented with the support of EcoAssist, a legal representative of “We plant good deeds in Romania” initiative and together with ”Plantăm Fapte Bune în România” and the Romanian Forest Units.

The second stage of the campaign took place in May 2019, doubling the number of planted trees by adding 50,000 new ones. As of then, more than 100,000 had been planted by Bergenbier in Romania. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the phase three of the reforestation project got delayed. It is launching during the autumn months of 2020.

The Bergenbier’s reforestation initiative is driven by the desire to give back to the nature, supporting Bergenbier’s long-term commitment to protect the forests of Romania. From forest engineers to authorities, many were involved in the preparation process to ensure the long-term sustainability of the areas where the the trees were planted.

To protect these reforestation areas, Bergenbier has pledged to protect these areas for 3 years, a time it takes for the reforested areas to be able to nourish with minimal help.
