Brewing may have roots that go back millennia, but beermakers are using some of the most cutting-edge technologies in their work.
Pubinno, a San Francisco-based tech company, is using artificial intelligence (AI), cloud platforms and robotics to help brewers save water. Working with four of the world’s top 10 breweries, Pubinno has helped them produce over 53 million pints of their ‘Perfect Beer’, saving Pubinno more than 652 million litres of water.
Pubinno’s connected digital ecosystem ensures draft beer operations are becoming fully automated, standardized, trackable, hygienic and sustainable.
There are three key parts to it:
• Smart Tap controls the flow rate of beer and tracks all the parameters for a draft beer system such as pressure, line cleaning, temperature, and keg freshness, to maintain beer quality and deliver perfect beer taste regardless of time and location. Smart Tap’s robotics mechanism helps generate savings of up to 20% per keg and serves the beer with different amounts of foam.
• Smart Hub keeps users up to date with real-time data on many needs-oriented issues such as sector sales average, brand-based detailed insights, KPI tracking, and keg efficiency. It also allows customers to optimize their operational processes and helps brewers cut carbon emissions in planning, packaging, and logistics by creating a follow-up and controllable communication environment with the data and insights it provides.
• Smart Clean is a fully automated, AI-powered, and portable draft beer line cleaning system. It measures and monitors the frequency of maintenance, the volume of rinsing water, the pH value of the cleaning chemical, the chemical holding time, and the volume of water used to rinse the line after the cleaning chemical.
Since the first launch, 19 million litres of beer have been sold from Smart Taps. If this beer was sold with standard procedures, 520 million litres of water would have been lost. However, Pubinno hopes to have saved one billion litres of beer by 2030.
Pubinno Internet of Beer solutions has been developed to design the future of draft beer by creating a fully connected digital ecosystem where draft beer operations are becoming fully automated, standardized, trackable, hygienic, sustainable, and more responsible for a better future.
Pubinno’s Smart Tap powered by Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Cloud Platforms controls the flow rate of beer and tracks all the parameters for a draft beer system such as pressure, line cleaning, temperature, keg freshness, etc. to maintain the highest beer quality and consequently to deliver perfect beer taste regardless of time and location. With its user-friendly design, Pubinno Smart Tap also helps bartenders deliver multiple tasks easily during peak hours. Pubinno’s patented robotics mechanism installed in the Smart Taps helps generate savings up to 20% per keg and serves the beer with different amounts of foam.
Pubinno Smart Hub keeps its users up to date with real-time data. Every point that uses Pubinno products can instantly access the data on many needs-oriented issues such as sector sales average, brand-based detailed insights, KPI tracking, and keg efficiency. Pubinno also expands its sphere of influence by allowing its customers to optimize their operational processes. It helps brewers to reduce carbon emissions in planning, packaging, and logistics by creating a follow-up and controllable communication environment with the data and insights it provides. While increasing the efficiency of draft beer operations contributes to the sustainability goals of breweries. Smart Hub also offers anomaly detection and alerts to fully assist brewers and pub owners in the proper management of their daily business operations.
On the other hand Smart Clean is a fully automated, AI-powered, and portable draft beer line cleaning system, that has been designed to cope with the chronic problems of the draft beer system, and is suitable for all draft beer lines in order to spread out easily all around the world. Smart Clean conducts a unique line cleaning process for each beer line depending on the usage, beer type, cooling system, and line length for maximum quality with minimum resources.
The frequency of maintenance, the volume of rinsing water, the pH value of the cleaning chemical, the chemical holding time, and the volume of water used to rinse the line after the cleaning chemical can be measured and monitored with Smart Clean. Rather than traditional line cleaning methods, Smart Clean can provide data on whether the maintenance has been carried out correctly or not while eliminating the need for the field maintenance team. Smart Clean allows the owners to carry out the maintenance procedure with their means without any scheduling need. Owners can plan the maintenance schedule according to the customer density, thus minimizing the disruptions that may occur during the service. It saves maintenance costs for the owner and beverage company. Since line cleaning is a process that determines consumer health and satisfaction for the beverage industry, Smart Clean offers autonomous, traceable and reportable maintenance processes instead of traditional maintenance procedures. Thus, it reduces costs for service providers and increases the quality of the service received by consumers.
Pubinno improves the keg efficiency by an average of 20% and supports the beer brands’ sustainability goals with its environmentally friendly draft beer experience. According to WWF and SABMiller’s report, 50 to 155 liters of water is used from farm to glass to produce one liter of beer; an average of 102,5 liters of water.
Since the first launch, 19.065.721 liters of beer have been sold from Smart Taps. If this beer was sold with standard procedures, 520.874.480 liters of water would have been lost. We hope to have saved 1 billion liters of beer for a better future by 2030 while establishing the Internet of Beer with all Pubinno products. In addition to water efficiency, we aim to reduce carbon footprints by changing consumer and industry habits while increasing the quality of draft beer.
